Donnie Nelson was initiated into a life under water when he started commercial diving in 1987. For seven years he worked under the water, all the while gaining a profound appreciation for the mysterious beauties around him.

He then worked as a diving instructor while attending courses at the New England School of Photography for a degree in Commercial Photography.

Since then he has photographed sea life in South East Asia, the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and beneath the ices of the northern polar regions.

Most recently, Donnie has been assisting National Geographic photographers in various regions of the world. Photos from his National Geographic shoots will be available online as soon as the issues have been published.
